Our Trainers
Turk Akbay founder of Off Leash Dog Training is a licensed professional dog trainer .  As a life coach turned dog trainer his unique approach of “Seeking balance first in our relationship with our dogs.” Sets him apart from many conventional dog trainers.

He trained hundreds of dog owners in Charlotte, NC  to have an exceptional relationship with their dogs.  Turk has 3 dogs a Rhodesian Ridgeback named Djembe, a Flat Coated Retriever mix named Seven , and a Vizsla named Zilli.  He is an active supporter of local no kill shelters, and rescue organizations.

He is a regular guest as Carolina’s Dog Master in WCNC36 Charlotte Today Show, and is currently working on a new book.

Turk is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and a member of the International Association of Canine Professionals.

Our Philosophy
We believe that we must first respect that our dogs have their own wisdom and their own needs.
We want our relationship and communication with our dogs to be between friends with different roles and responsibilities rather than boss and an employee. Just as in any group there are roles and responsibilities.

At Off Leash Dog Training, we believe that humans’ responsibilities are to first keep our dog safe, and second allow our dog to be more like a dog.

Our vision is a world where people take their dogs with them where ever they go.
