Dog Sports Day is June 6th

The U.S. National Whitewater Center (USNWC) is hosting Dog Sports Day on Sunday, June 6th from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Expected to draw dog lovers from throughout the Charlotte area and Southeast region, this newly created event features canines showing off their skills and abilities in activities including fly-ball, weight pulling, herding, urban mushing, Frisbee and the always spectacular dock-diving finale. Additional activities include search and rescue demonstrations, therapy/assistance dogs, and dog safety for children. The competitions show off the intelligence and athleticism of these dogs and are certain to provide an exciting show. Visitors’ pets are welcome to attempt some of the exercises as well. Various groups from around Charlotte, including Canine Assistance, Project HALO and The Dublin Dog Foundation, will be attending. Enjoy free giveaways, dog adoptions and activity clinics. Don’t forget to bring your dog because the USNWC is dog friendly, even welcoming dogs on the River’s Edge Bar & Grill patio.

Dog Sports Day is a FREE spectator event. As always, Parking is $5. The event is being presented by PETCO and sponsored by Waggin’ Train Treats, Off Leash Dog Training, Paradise Pet and Zuke’s.

The U.S. National Whitewater Center is a non-profit outdoor recreation and adventure sports facility. Alongside mountain biking and running trails, climbing center, mega zip line, mega jump, and challenge course. The park’s unique feature is a multiple-channel, customized whitewater river for rafting and canoe/kayak enthusiasts of all abilities. The USNWC is only 15 minutes from Uptown Charlotte and provides nearly 400 acres of woodlands along the scenic Catawba River. Families, workout enthusiasts, casual observers and Olympic-caliber athletes share this world-class sports and training center. The USNWC is proud to be a U.S. Olympic Training Site.
